Vista Verde Retreat is a very special place, located amidst purple mountains, sage, and piñon pines. The accommodations are lovely, and the attention to detail outstanding. Elizabeth, the owner, is friendly, welcoming, and gracious. The spacious studio is outstanding for workshops.

Vista Verde Retreat was the perfect location for our Ashtanga Yoga retreat. There was a wide variety of spaces to use, the rooms are comfortable, and the studio was a perfect place to deepen my practice; I would come back again and again.

My time at Vista Verde Retreat center was amazing. There was enough privacy in the Ranch House, and plenty of community space. All the comforts of home are provided. The catering chef was incredible.

This venue certainly encouraged our creativity and our ability to form a community quickly. I enjoyed my stay very much and I will come back.

I loved staying at this remote getaway. It is simple and well cared for. The surrounding desert landscape, with its simple beauty, makes this getaway exquisite.The accessibility to Ojo Caliente is also a plus. So lovely to be able to soak in the quiet desert.

Although the house is fully equipped to allow you to stay connected with the outside world with WiFi, we thoroughly enjoyed the seclusive and coziness of this place. We went for New Years and skied Taos one day, went Fly Fishing another day and did a Hot Air Balloon ride another day. The house is 1 hour from Taos Ski Valley and ~45 minutes from Taos (Walmart, Restaurants, stores, etc). We loved coming home to a toasty fireplace after a full day of activities and make dinner and relax as a family. Would 100% recommend this place if you don’t mind driving to get around.

About a 30-40 minute drive into Taos. The remote desert location is perfect for quiet reflection, hiking and star gazing. It’s also quite advantageous if you need to accommodate 8 people or so. If you want the ability to escape and chill......this place is uniquely ideal.

We had a wonderful time. The house is very cozy and nicely done. Plenty of space for our family. We were looking for something in nature but close to activities - this accomplished both. Easy access to Taos and Santa Fe for day trips but away from the hustle and bustle of town. Great wood burning stove to gather around and relax. We would be happy to go back.

The setting is remote and quiet--when we watched the lunar eclipse the stars and milky way were incredibly bright, and my son, sleeping in the tipi, heard coyotes at night. But Taos, with its restaurants, shopping, galleries, organic foods market, and Taos Pueblo, is only 45 minutes away, Ojo Caliente Hot Springs is a half-hour drive, and there are numerous scenic drives and hiking trails in the general area, as well as Angel Fire downhill mountain biking the other side of Taos. It was a perfect place meet up with our children and to relax and begin our month-long holiday in the Four Corners area. And Elizabeth was so welcoming and helpful. We hope to return someday.

We have tried a number of retreat locations in New Mexico, and this is the only one that has everything we look for: a beautiful, quiet, scenic location away from people and traffic; an inviting and comfortable facility (Vista Verde "Q" is elegant and simple, very lovely and in top condition); not too far from Albuquerque (two and a half hours); abundant outdoor opportunities nearby; a reasonable price; a full kitchen; and an owner who is responsive, friendly, and professional. The owner returns emails and phone calls promptly, has everything ready when you arrive, provides timely information regarding maps and directions, and welcomes you when you arrive with a gentle kindness that is so refreshing. I am thrilled to have found this beautiful location, managed by such a gracious and personable owner. I can't wait to come back. At last, our search for the perfect spot is over.

From my very first contact with Elizabeth, I felt immediately welcome. She is professional, hospitable, informative. I stayed at the "Q-House," a charming, cozy, and sunny abode nestled among piñon trees. From there, I explored Taos, the Rio Grande Gorge, and many stunning area hikes. I can't recommend this property enough for those looking to get away for a few days—or, like me, nearly two weeks. I can't wait to go back!

Vista Verde is a great way to enjoy the stunning beauty of Northern New Mexico's high basin and range landscapes and magnificent skies. The Q offers an inviting, spacious and very comfortable casita with all modern amenities and grand old (and authentic )Southwestern style. I loved the flagstone and tiled floors, vigas, and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the magnificent views of nearby mountains and vast skies of cascading clouds--and of course, we enjoyed the sunsets which are spectacular. Vista Verde is a wonderful retreat to restore body and soul--and an artist's delight. Great spot for an artist retreat.
Bring binoculars for birdwatching; the birds are so so beautiful! The last 2.5 miles is a dirt road so be prepared to drive slowly and take in the sights.
Elizabeth is the perfect hostess and has seen to every detail with class and grace.

My daughter made my reservation for me, so I didn’t know what to expect. What an incredible surprise to arrive and find such a secluded, warm, safe, and beautifully furnished home. We were able to prepare all our meals, entertain my daughter’s family, with three small children, and have our meals and conversation around a large table, while through the windows enjoy the true beauty of the surrounding landscape.
